Twinkle Twinkle little star, Let us show you who we are...
At Small Steps Academy, we know that learning happens for babies within the context of close relationships, daily routines like feeding and diapering, and play. We have warm, loving, and well-trained caregivers who know how to appropriately respond with delight to your baby's unique needs and personalities.
Our teachers take cues from each child, respond to signs of stress, and provide comfort and security as needed. The daily needs of babies are always addressed with smiles, frequent eye contact, and lots of loving talk. Interactions between baby and caregiver given during diaper changes, feedings, rest time, and playtime are instrumental in the emerging sense of self, relationships with others, and the development of language. Songs are frequently sung and soothing music is played during naps. At Small Steps, you can count on your baby having plenty of individualized attention and cuddle time.
Parents are kept up to date with a daily sheet that reports feeding times and amounts, diaper changes, nap times, and activities that occur each day. Our staff is responsive to each parent's concerns and suggestions and as we share your baby's achievements.
Our infant room is adaptable to the changing growth, abilities, and varied interests of babies. We promote lots of floor play and exploration for cognitive learning and motor devleopment. We include rockers that are comfortable and relaxing for children and adults. We welcome nursing moms who are able to slip in during the day for breastfeeding or dads that are inclined to visit, too.
Safe and Secure
We use equipment appropriately, meaning we actively participate in play with each baby as they explore safe toys and play items. Each child has their own cubby for personal items. You can also be assured that infants are always placed on their backs for safe sleep. Your child's happiness and healthy social-emotional development are our priorities, along with providing a safe and secure environment.
